Round table discussion with Indian minister

The German Biogas Association participated on November 7th in a round table discussion with the Indian Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Hardeep S Puri, at the Indian Embassy in Berlin. Managing Director Dr Claudius da Costa Gomez and several member companies that are already active in India presented an overview of the innovative solutions of the German biogas industry.

India would like to promote the utilization of biogas, especially the digestion of organic residues. The Indian government is very interested in the expertise of German biogas companies and wants to massively promote the construction of biogas plants over the next few years - 5,000 plants are planned, which will be subsidized via the "Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation" (SATAT) initiative and will also serve the fuel sector.

In the run-up to the round table with the biogas industry, a meeting took place between the Indian minister and the German Minister of Economic Affairs Habeck, in which Puri also addressed the topic of biogas.
The German Biogas Association has been supporting the Indian biogas market for more than seven years and played a key role in the founding of the Indian Biogas Association (IBA). The joint Chamber and Association Partnership project between the two associations, which began in December 2015, finally ended on 31 May 2022.
